You are on the right path because that's the path you are on.
For so long, I would question and doubt myself. Am I doing the right thing? Am I moving in the right direction?
I felt so overwhelmed by the idea of being on the right path, especially during times when I felt disappointed, uncomfortable or exhausted. If this is the right path?, I would ask myself. If so, why do I feel so off?
In the past couple of years, I have intentionally distance myself from the idea of the binary of right vs. wrong because it's just too simple and doesn't honor the complexity and nuance of my life.
Most time, especially if the experience is new, our brain will tell us not to do the new thing because it perceives it as being a threat or an unnecessary risk. Remember that the brain's main function is to help us survive so, technically, it’s doing it’s job!
Having lived enough years to understand that not everything new is unsafe and that oftentimes new experience teach me how to be more adaptable and flexible with what life offers me, I honor my shifting edge as an important teacher too!
Which brings me back to the path that you/we are on. We're learning and growing by collecting wisdom and experiential knowledge. We're healing layers of wounding and gaining awareness of our unconscious beliefs, behavioral patterns and blindspots. Some moments are going to be painfully uncomfortable. And if enough times we do something one way, we will become aware of the pattern. We can finally ask an empowering question.
What is trying to awaken in me through in this situation?
You decide to shift your position or relationship to that person or circumstance. And all of a sudden, you notice a tiny change in you. Maybe that person doesn't aggravate you quite the same as before? Maybe you feel a sense of freedom in the interaction, a fluidity. And then a moment of clarity widens your vision: that everything that came before this moment had to be what it was, even the uncomfortable or painful stuff, for you/for us to grow.
In other words, everything you are experiencing is asking for your full presence and attention. Your presence is your participation. And because you are not somewhere else as someone else, that other person's path is not your path. The path you are on is the path you are given. This path offers you the experiences and sensations that will teach YOU what you are here to learn.
This is your path, your present purpose.
